Open Bible Mission Centre - Kenya Pig Roast Fundraiser November 7, 2025 @ 6:30pm

HISTORY OF THE OPEN BIBLE MISSION - KENYA

The Open Bible Mission Centre in Kenya was started in October 2017 after two pastors (Pastor Rob Cochrane from Swift Current, Sk and Harrison Agonda from Homa Bay, Kenya) met online and developed a friendship over Pastor Harrison’s vision to start rescuing children from the streets of the Kibera Slum in Nairobi, to give them a home, love, and a Christian education.

By 2018, the school had grown from 20 preschool children and 5 boys who had been rehabilitated to 60 full time students. They rented a gated compound and built 5 temporary classrooms along with a boy’s dorm. By God’s provision, they were able to purchase one acre of land about 70 km outside of Nairobi. Two additional acres were leased due to the government regulation that a school must be on 3 acres of land.

In 2019, The Church of the Open Bible sent a team of 7 people to help construct some buildings on the new land site.

When Covid hit the world in the spring of 2020, the school on the new land site in Kajiado was shut down by the government. Many of the students were sent back to the slum to live with a relative. However, 44 students had no one to go to. By faith, Harrison and his wife Irene, moved these homeless students to Homa Bay, into their home. They immediately set about restructuring their own 5 acres of land to accommodate their large new “family”.

FAST FORWARD TO TODAY…

They now have over 300 students attending the Graham Wotherspoon Academy. They have begun construction on their own education complex, but need our help to raise the funds to complete it.

Please consider attending our fundraiser on November 7th, or giving a one time donation to the cause, and help them achieve their goal of finishing their school for these children. Space is limited so don’t delay!
